Getting Started

The number of diapers you need depends on how often you're going to wash laundry. I wash every two days. This is a list of things I recommend to help you get started based on washing every two days. You can adjust and add more if you wash less frequently.

24 diaper changes (12 a day average, less as your child gets older)
2 nighttime diapers (not necessary for NB b/c you change them at every feeding anyway)
2 fasteners (if you're using flats or prefolds)
6 covers (if you're using flats, prefolds or fitteds)
Diaper pail
2 pail liners (you can get away with 1, but it's easier to have one to use while one is being washed)
2 wet bags
CD safe diaper cream (more on this in an upcoming post)
Wipes (either disposable or cloth)
Wipe solution (if using cloth wipes)
CD safe detergent (more on this soon)
Grapefruit seed extract or tea tree oil (liquid form; more on this later)

Optional items:
Doublers
Disposable liners
